Community law
The law of European Community (as opposed to the national laws of the member states.) It consists of the treaties establishing the EC (together with subsequent amending treaties) community legislation, and decisions of the court of justice of the European Communities. Any provision of the treaties or of community legislation that is directly applicable or directly effective in a member state forms part of the law of that state and prevails over its national law in the event of any inconsistency between the two. Европейский союз
Объединение европейских стран на основе экономического и валютного союза, а также координации внешней и внутренней политики, политики в области безопасности и правосудия. Договор о Европейском союзе был подписан в 1992 г. в Маастрихте (Нидерланды) главами государств и правительств 12 государств-членов Европейского сообщества и вступил в силу 1 ноября 1993 г. Членами союза стали 15 государств: Австрия, Бельгия, Великобритания, Германия, Греция, Дания, Ирландия, Испания, Италия, Люксембург, Нидерланды, Португалия, Финляндия, Франция, Швеция (см. Maastricht Treaty). Процесс экономической интеграции в Европе начался еще в 1951 г., когда было создано Европейское объединение угля и стали (см. European Coal and Steel Community). Затем в 1958 г. появилось Европейское сообщество (см. Еuropean Сommunity) и наконец Евросоюз. В настоящее время Евросоюз объединяет 25 стран. В 2004 г. к нему присоединились Кипр (греческая часть), Чехия, Венгрия, Эстония, Латвия, Литва, Мальта, Польша, Словакия и Словения. В рамках Евросоюза образовался общий рынок, обеспечивающий свободное перемещение товаров и услуг, рабочей силы и капитала. Страны-члены проводят единую политику в области конкуренции (см. Competition policy (EU)), сельского хозяйства (см. Common Agricultural Policy) и региональных проблем. Осуществлен переход к единой валюте евро. Основные политические решения в Евросоюзе принимает Совет ЕС (the Council of the European Communities), исполнительным органом является Европейская комиссия (см.
